“Polished and ready to be hung” - Demetrious Johnson shows off collection of world title belts

ONE flyweight world champion and MMA all-time great Demetrious Johnson is one of the most accomplished mixed martial artists to have ever lived.

Aside from capturing a ONE world title in one of the most stacked divisions in the organization, 'Mighty Mouse' also won the prestigious ONE flyweight World Grand Prix. That's on top of his record-setting 11 consecutive world title defences in the UFC, a record that may never ever be broken.

We wouldn't be surprised to see if Johnson's house is riddled with gold from corner to corner. In a recent YouTube shorts video posted by 'DJ' himself, the multi-time MMA world champion showed off his shiny world title belts right before they were put on display in their case. The 14-second video had the below text on the backdrop:

"Polished and ready to be hung!!"

Check out the video below:

Judging from the way Demetrious Johnson avenged his solo career KO loss at the hands of Adriano Moraes at ONE on Prime Video 1, it looks like these belts aren't going to be the last in his career.

Demetrious Johnson wants to try his hand at jiu-jitsu tournaments after MMA career ends

It looks like more gold is bound for Demetrious Johnson's trophy case, and they might very well come from the sport of competitive jiu-jitsu. In a recent podcast episode with Joe Rogan, 'DJ' spoke about how he sees his fighting future and what he wants to do once cage fighting is over for him.

Apparently, the MMA flyweight GOAT is looking into other competitive sports after his fighting days in MMA are done. Here's what 'Mighty Mouse' said:

"After I’m done competing full time, with the businesses going on and see them go, I’m still gonna try and compete in something. Motocross was going to be the thing that was going to fuel my desire to compete, but after I found jiu-jitsu at the place where I train now. I’m like, 'Okay I wanna try and compete in IBJJF.'"

Johnson continued:

"I was like, ‘Hey guys, can I compete at IBJJF this year?’ They were like, 'No, no you can't.' It would’ve been in a gi and I’m only a brown belt. Everyone was like, ‘You wanna get destroyed?’ I was like, ‘I don’t care, at least I tried’ and see what it’s like."

It seems like Demetrious Johnson just wants to have fun and try new things after cementing his legacy as one of the greatest to ever do it. He also plans to keep satisfying his competitive spirit even after hanging up the gloves for good.

With that said, competitive jiu-jitsu and submission grappling might be the best route for Johnson as they pose a relatively lesser risk of concussions.

'DJ' has the athleticism, combat IQ, and world-class work ethic to become a potential world champion in BJJ. Johnson has famously submitted BJJ world champions in MMA before, particularly former IBJJF world gold medalist Wilson Reis.
