Demetrious Johnson shows Danny Kingad tough he can be once on the ground
ONE Championship re-surfaced a highlight from Demetrious Johnson’s win against Danny Kingad.
‘Mighty Mouse’ is known for his precision and speed, making him a deadly striker. With that said, the reigning ONE flyweight MMA world champion is a high-level grappler, which his opponents need to respect.
In October 2019, Johnson made his third appearance in the Circle against Kingad in the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix Finals. During the fight, the American flyweight locked in a dangerous kimura. Although ‘The King’ didn’t tap, ‘Mighty Mouse’ showcased his elite grappling skills.
ONE Championship recently posted the submission attempt on Instagram with the caption saying:
“Mighty Mouse” is versatile 👀 Will Demetrious Johnson successfully defend the ONE Flyweight World Title against Adriano Moraes when they meet in a rubber match for the ages on May 5 at ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video? 🏆 @mighty”
Johnson made his promotional debut in March 2019, winning his first three fights to become the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix champion. As a result, ‘Mighty Mouse’ earned a title shot against Adriano Moraes in 2021, which ended up being his first loss in ONE.
The former UFC champion bounced back in 2022 by defeating Rodtang Jitmuangnon in a mixed-rules bout and also avenging his loss against Moraes.
Demetrious Johnson plans to let Adriano Moraes pick his poison
Demetrious Johnson and Adriano Moraes will meet for a third time on May 5 with the ONE flyweight world championship on the line. Now that they have spent 25+ minutes in the Circle, Johnson plans to let loose and allow Moraes to pick his poison. During an appearance on the fightTips YouTube channel, ‘Mighty Mouse’ had this to say:
“Just gonna go out there and fight, you know just like what I did in the first one. I think the biggest thing when it comes to where I’m at in my stage of my career, just go out there and fight. I mean I’ve been fighting for so long that everyone kind of knows my style and I just go out there and let my opponent pick their poison.”
Demetrious Johnson vs. Adriano Moraes 3 will headline ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video, the promotion’s first event in North America. In the co-main event, Rodtang Jitmuangnon looks to defend his flyweight Muay Thai world championship against promotional newcomer Edgar Tabares. The highly-anticipated event can be seen live and for free by North American Prime Video subscribers.
