“I think we deserve a standalone Mark Ruffalo movie” - Demetrious Johnson shows love for Hulk actor
Inside the circle, Demetrious Johnson is one of the most dangerous mixed martial artists in the world. Outside of the circle, ‘Mighty Mouse’ is an avid fan of everything related to entertainment culture, including Lord of the Rings, gaming, and Marvel.
Marvel Studios and its Marvel Cinematic Universe, or MCU, have taken the world by storm since the studio debuted in 2008 with its first self-produced feature film, Iron Man.
After becoming a worldwide hit, there was no stopping the production house, which has since produced 29 films alongside a slew of TV series and specials amassing more than $25 billion in revenue.
As a fan of both the comic books and the films, Demetrious Johnson believes Marvel should take advantage of the opportunity to produce a film or series based on the popular Incredible Hulk story arc, World War Hulk.
Speaking to ONE Championship on the subject, ‘Mighty Mouse’ said:
“Honestly, it’ll be a great Disney+ show or they can just go straight into a movie. I think we deserve a standalone Mark Ruffalo movie.”
In the comic book series, Hulk returns to Earth to exact revenge against the Illuminati, blaming them for the death of his pregnant wife. In the comic book, the Illuminati is made up of Black Bolt, Tony Stark, Doctor Strange, and Reed Richards.
Fans can see a variation of the all-star superhero team in Marvel’s 2022 blockbuster, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Demetrious Johnson was a fan of Marvel’s first foray into the world of horror
This Halloween, Marvel Studios stepped out of their comfort zone, delivering fans a unique hour-long special, Werewolf by Night. Based on the character who debuted in Marvel Spotlight #2 in 1972, Werewolf by Night is a throwback to universal horror pictures that featured famous monsters including Dracula, The Mummy, Frankenstein, and The Wolfman.
Demetrious Johnson shared his thoughts on the MCU special, saying:
"Yeah I watched it, it’s good. I like how Disney is kinda treading on this new Rated R spooky kind of content. I actually enjoyed it, it’s good. I don’t know how it fits into the MCU or what universe it is but I think it’s good we’ll see where they go from there."
While Marvel is known for intricately connecting all of its productions together into one larger story, Werewolf by Night was praised by many for standing on its own and presenting the fans with a new concept.
