Demetrious Johnson wanted to see ‘Reug Reug’ in a Marvel movie
Demetrious Johnson recently unleashed his inner nerd when he discussed Marvel movies.
Wakanda Forever, the sequel to the Marvel movie Black Panther, was released on November 11. The Ryan Coogler-directed film has received an 84% approval rate on Rotten Tomatoes, but the general public seems to love the movie. During an interview with ONE, ‘Mighty Mouse’ discussed former UFC champion Kamaru Usman making an appearance in Wakanda Forever:
“It was cool to see Kamaru Usman in the movie [Wakanda Forever] as well. I think as athletes, who are big fans of Marvel, I think a lot of studios could utilize us for those small parts because we are kind of built like superheroes. I think it was a great fit for him being African. He was actually speaking African, so I’m pretty sure if they wanted him to speak in an African dialect, he could have done that…”
Johnson continued by suggesting Oumar ‘Reug Reug’ Kane, a ONE Championship heavyweight, should be in a Marvel movie:
“Or I would have had 'Reug Reug' in the f*cking movie, and have him do one of his dance celebrations. Obviously, you got to know the right people to be able to do that.”
Demetrious Johnson gives his opinion on Wakanda Forever
Demetrious Johnson is an avid comic book and video game fan. Although there were mixed reviews on Wakanda Forever, the current ONE flyweight champion enjoyed the film. ‘Mighty Mouse’ provided his reaction to the Black Panther sequel by saying this during an interview with ONE:
“Black Panther was great, it was a different direction than I thought it was gonna go… I really loved Namor out of everything in the whole movie. I felt like Namor is the first legit mutant that they brought into the MCU. I really liked his powers, how he moved, I really liked his story. I also felt like it was a Latino version of Black Panther…”
Demetrious Johnson has established himself as a real-life superhero. The former 12x UFC champion picked up right where he left off with ONE. ‘Mighty Mouse’ now holds the ONE flyweight world title, which he will defend in a highly-anticipated trilogy fight against Adriano Moraes at ONE on Prime Video 10 in May 2023.
