Demetrious Johnson wants to entertain the fans in Adriano Moraes trilogy
At ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video, Demetrious Johnson will compete in the first trilogy fight of his legendary career.
On May 5, he will look to defend his flyweight world championship against the man who finished him for the first time in his career, Adriano Moraes.
The two elite competitors have already produced two great fights in their first two encounters. They have both scored highlight reel finishes over one another that will no doubt go down in ONE Championship’s history as two iconic moments.
Aside from the knee strikes that ended their two previous fights, the contests themselves have been very even and ONE Fight Night 10 will seemingly be no different.
Moraes and Johnson will headline ONE Championship’s debut event in the United States, live from Broomfield, Colorado at the 1stBank Center.
In a recent interview on the fightTIPS YouTube Channel, the defending champion Demetrious Johnson said that his one clear objective for this fight is to put on an incredible show for the fans in attendance.
He said:
“My main goal for that fight is to blow the f*cking roof off on that fight. I want people to keep saying ‘I want to see you fight, I want to see you fight’ whether I’m the champion or not, that's always my goal.”

Demetrious Johnson and Henry Cejudo break down the short person’s advantages in MMA
Demetrious Johnson and Henry Cejudo are two of MMA’s most accomplished fighters despite their opponents having physical advantages over them.
In a recent video uploaded to his YouTube channel, Henry Cejudo and his former rival broke down the benefits that come from being the smaller fighter inside the cage. Drawing from his own experience, Cejudo referenced his fight against Demetrious Johnson when explained how shorter fighters can use their height to their own advantage:
"This is a conversation for us short kings here...A lot of times think because you're short it's a disadvantage. Not really. you're more explosive, you're harder to take down because of the level change...In other words, being short fighting somebody that has more length, there's more body to grab." [0:15 - 1:13]
‘Mighty Mouse’ referenced the trilogy of fights between featherweights Alexander Volkanovski and Max Holloway as a key example of how the shorter fighter was still able to control the distance:
"He was the shorter fighter but he was actually winning the striking events because he understood the biggest thing which was distance. And for me in my career, when I fight guys who are the same height as me, I actually have a hard time because the range and distance are a little bit different." [1:37 - 1:53]
Whilst both fighters made convincing arguments for the advantages of being the shorter opponent inside the cage, they did point out that a weight difference can change that.
