Mayweather Jr.'s amateur boxing career was impressive, with a record of 84 wins and 8 losses. He won the national Golden Gloves championships three times. At the 1996 Olympics, Mayweather dominated his early matches, easily defeating opponents from Kazakhstan and Armenia. In the quarterfinals, he faced Lorenzo Aragon from Cuba, a tough opponent who was considered a favorite.

Mayweather Jr., however, pulled off a victory, becoming the first American boxer to defeat a Cuban in 20 years.

Unfortunately, Mayweather Jr.'s Olympic journey came to an end in the semifinals. He lost a controversial decision to Serafim Todorov of Bulgaria, a result that was widely disputed by the U.S. team.

The highly anticipated rematch between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and John Gotti III will take place on August 24 at the Arena CDMX. The exhibition bout will see the two men square off once again, hoping to settle their unfinished business from their chaotic first encounter.

The official main card for the event will kick off at 9 p.m. ET/2 a.m. U.K. time, with Mayweather Jr. and Gotti III expected to make their ring walks at 11:05 p.m. ET/4:05 a.m. U.K. time. Fans can catch the action live on DAZN pay-per-view.
