Did Leon Edwards "cheat" against Kamaru Usman at UFC 286? Colby Covington gives his two cents

The rivalry between Leon Edwards and Kamaru Usman seems to be over for now following their trilogy at UFC 286. But the conspiracies around it aren't.

During a recent interview with James Lynch, Colby Covington took shots at his potential next opponent Leon Edwards and suggested that 'Rocky' is as much of a cheater as Kamaru Usman.

During the fight, Leon Edwards had some controversial moments, landing low blows on two occasions, grabbing hold of Usman's glove, and also grabbing the cage in an attempt to avoid being taken down. This resulted in referee Herb Dean taking one point away from 'Rocky' in the third round of the fight.

Referring to Leon Edwards' fouls during his interview, Colby Covington said:

"He's [Leon Edwards] out there poking the guy in the eye, kicking him in the n*ts, grabbing the fence and then Herb Dean stops the action. Herb is like, 'Yo, Leon uh what are you doing man, you can't grab the fence.' Then tries to deny it in front of the world James, he's trying to deny it. Dude the whole world just saw you completely blatantly grab the fence and now you're gonna deny it?"

Leon Edwards thinks Colby Covington does not deserve a title shot

Following Edwards' title defense against Kamaru Usman this past weekend at UFC 286, Dana White revealed that Colby Covington will get the next title shot. It is worth noting that 'Chaos' was the backup fighter for the welterweight championship bout last weekend and according to White, he deserves to get a shot at the title.

Colby Covington is currently ranked No.2 in the welterweight division. He was last seen inside the octagon in a grudge match against Jorge Masvidal last year. Speaking about 'Chaos' getting the title shot next during a post-fight presser, 'Rocky' suggested that there are more deserving contenders in the division than him:

"I don't know how that makes sense. [Colby Covington] hasn't fought for over a year and a half. Sat out, not injured. I don't get how he just slides in for a world title shot when there's other guys in the division that have been active, been fighting, didn't sit out. So yeah, like I said, I'm the king now. I have earned my way. So, I feel like I should decide who's next."
