In his 2015 fight against Cormier, the back-and-forth battle saw 'Bones' secure a unanimous decision victory. The reigning heavyweight champion recently defended his title against former two-time heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic via KO/TKO at UFC 309. He extended his record to an impressive 28-1.

Jones' future in the UFC remains uncertain, with speculation about whether he will retire or face Aspinall in a title unification bout. However, he has expressed interest in fighting light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira, stating that such a matchup would add more value to his resume compared to facing the UK native.

Tom Aspinall shares insights on Jon Jones' UFC 309 victory against Stipe Miocic

Jon Jones once again demonstrated his fight IQ in his first heavyweight title defense against Stipe Miocic. He consistently utilized body kicks as a key weapon, showcasing his strategic brilliance inside the octagon.

The interim heavyweight champion, Tom Aspinall has often praised the 37-year-old for his fight IQ. Speaking on TNT Sports, Aspinall broke down Jones' fight with Miocic and once again lauded Jones, stating:

''Watch this hand. He constantly distracts you with the lead hand. So, he's keeping you busy with this before he starts to turn and starts to do these kicks. This comes first, is the front hand, look, he just paws it out before he does anything, and he does that every time. He occupies the front hand and then works his attacks off it, which is high-level fight IQ stuff from Jon Jones. He's one of the smartest fighters ever."
