"Divide and conquer is the oldest trick in the book" - Former UFC star from England speaks out on the "grim" situation in the UK

One-time UFC middleweight title challenger Darren Till just released a lengthy statement on X/Twitter, wherein he addressed the ongoing riots setting the United Kingdom ablaze. For context, the riots broke out in response to a mass stabbing that led to the death of three children.

Misinformation regarding the suspect's identity fanned the flames of anti-immigrant and Islamophobic sentiments that had already been simmering under the surface. Far-right groups emerged in the wake of nationwide civil unrest, leading to clashes with riot police. Now, Till, an Englishman, has spoken out.

"Im not one for politics but the situation here in the UK is so grim right now I feel I need to voice my opinion. Divide and conquer is the oldest trick in the book. The media machine is at it again causing divide meaning the real issue is being missed. Why is everyone falling for these tricks again. In order to change we need peaceful resolutions. This is not a us vs them on a people level. It's has to be people together united against current UK government laws and policies."

Till isn't the only combat sports figure to touch on the riots. Controversial social media influencer and former kickboxer Andrew Tate echoed similar sentiments during a recent sitdown with Piers Morgan, encouraging English citizens to unite against the powers that be.

However, as tensions between the public and the government soar, a more peaceful resolution will become harder to come by. However, the ex-UFC middleweight is nothing if not hopeful for his country and people.

Darren Till isn't the only UFC star to respond to stabbing incidents with political ire

Former UFC double champion Conor McGregor has taken a progressively deeper interest in Irish politics. Late last year, 'The Notorious' called for the torture and death of the man responsible for the stabbing of three children and two adults, which left all victims seriously injured.

McGregor also used the opportunity to make a correlation between violent crime in Ireland with the rise of mass immigration. He has since challenged the Irish government to implement changes to its migration laws and criminal justice system, even teasing an Irish presidential candidacy to the delight of his fans.
