Does Alex Pereira have kids? Viral MMA internet joke about 'Poatan's' "son" explained

Alex Pereira is arguably one of the scariest fighters inside the octagon. From his demeanor to his fighting style, everything makes him look scary. However, he is certainly a lovable guy outside of it. On social media, 'Poatan' often shows his humorous side for his fans to see.

In 2023, Pereira started a joke himself when he posted a picture with his partner while holding the replica of a moai figure and referred to it as his 'adopted child'.

For those unaware, the Brazilian is often linked to the historical Easter Island moai because of his stoic facial expressions. While it's hilarious to imagine the moai to be Pereira's 'adopted child', 'Poatan' actually enjoys a fulfilling family life.

When Alex Pereira almost punched his son

Alex Pereira is often seen spending quality time with his family and friends through several social media posts. While his expressionless face might compel you to think otherwise, 'Poatan' is a fun-loving person who seems to engage with jokes as well as pranks. But one of these pranks could have led to Pereira's son getting punched in the face.

In 2023, Pereira's son jumped on the 36-year-old while being dressed as a ghost. While he must have hoped to scare his father, Poatan remained unfazed. He was seconds away from throwing a right hand but held back after realizing it was a prank. The video of this failed prank attempt was posted on his Instagram.

Pereira's nickname 'Poatan' literally means 'Stone Hands' in the Tupi language. The devastating knockout power in his hands justifies the nickname. Thankfully, his son did not end up on the end of his punches and would probably never attempt a similar prank.
