"Don't doubt The General" - Fans still get goosebumps watching Jonathan Haggerty's knockout of Muay Thai icon Nong-O

Jonathan Haggerty went from being an overwhelming underdog to becoming the undisputed ONE bantamweight Muay Thai king when he fought former longtime world titleholder Nong-O Hama.

In April 2023, at ONE Fight Night 9, Haggerty scored one of the biggest victories of his professional career when he knocked out the Thai icon in the opening round of their world championship clash inside the legendary Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

'The General's' winning moment was recently looked back on by ONE Championship through an Instagram post:

"'The General' is bringing the POWER 💥 Does Jonathan Haggerty have what it takes to defend the ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Title against Superlek at ONE 168: Denver? 🏆 @jhaggerty_"

The British striking sensation was the first athlete in the ONE roster to beat Nong-O and ended his dominant reign in the weight class.

Because of this outstanding performance, fans could not get enough of it, and @deathdates, @nizanmelisa23, @fred_grace79, and @justinaust.in showered Haggerty with positive messages through their comments:

"Dont doubt the general"
"The general full of weapons 🔥🔥🔥👏👏👏👏"
"The general definitely sharpens his elbows 🔥🔥🔥🔥"
"Saw this one in person it was brutal."

Haggerty has since reached champ-champ status after he beat ONE bantamweight MMA world champion Fabricio Andrade for the vacant bantamweight kickboxing world title in November 2023.

Jonathan Haggerty admits finding home in the bantamweight division

Before he became a two-sport bantamweight world champion, Haggerty was a former ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion. However, Rodtang Jitmuangnon cut short his reign in the weight class, defeating him twice in 2019 and 2020.

But now that he is heavier and stronger, the London native believes that he is now where he is supposed to be and shared his thoughts about this switch in division through an interview with ONE Championship:

"Now that I'm at bantamweight, it's where I'm supposed to be and I'm doing what I'm supposed to do, and that's beat everybody."

Haggerty will now defend the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title against ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion Superlek Kiatmoo9 in the main event of ONE 168: Denver.

ONE 168: Denver will take place at the Ball Arena in Colorado on Sept. 6. Tickets for the event are available on Ticketmaster.
