Donald Trump recalls being a Democrat, explains to Joe Rogan why he didn't join Reform Party: "The system eats you alive"
Donald Trump recently made an appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast (JRE) and recalled leaning toward the Democrats once upon a time. The former POTUS also explained why he didn't join the Reform Party and broke down how an independent candidate would fail in America's two-party system.
After months of speculation, Trump finally appeared on Joe Rogan's podcast as a guest ahead of next month's U.S. Presidential elections. The real estate baron is running as the Republican candidate against Kamala Harris on the Democrat side.
During their conversation on the JRE podcast (#2219), Rogan asked Trump about his early days of being involved in politics and when he stopped being a Democrat. Trump pointed out that he was always into politics, saying:
"I was always involved in politics but usually from the standpoint of a donor. I was a donor. I was a big donor... gave both, really, pretty much both [Democrats and Republicans]. I have pictures of Ronald Reagan and me when I was very young... I was a Democrat [till] the early nineties. I switched over, eventually."
Trump then discussed almost joining the Reform Party and explained the disadvantages of being a third-party candidate, saying:
"They had a Reform Party, I was thinking about doing that for a little while, but, fortunately, I didn't because it's a two-party system... It doesn't work because even if you do great, you're not going to get Congress... It's pure and simple, it's a two-party system... The system eats you alive."

When Joe Rogan discussed how narratives around Donald Trump were shaped in public
Earlier this month, Joe Rogan spoke about Donald Trump and how people easily believed the popular narratives around the former POTUS. Rogan expressly referred to the public perception of news and how an individual's social image could be shaped by reporting patterns.
Speaking to veteran journalist Shane Smith on his podcast, Rogan broke down how easy it would be to form cults in today's day and age, given the alleged abundance of "gullible" and "stupid" people. He said:
"If you wanted to start a cult, you could probably do a really good job. You'll probably have a lot of people in your cult. Pretty easy to do it. Right, why? Because a lot of people are gullible and they're stupid. It's easy to get people to do things. It's easy to get people mad. It's easy to get people that think that Donald Trump is Hitler, and it's easy to get people to think Donald Trump is Jesus. It's like, there's a lot of opinions out there and that's fine. That's part of the fun of life."
