Doug Coltrane on why people should stop underestimating Jake Paul the boxer: "He can afford to pay guys to come train him"

Doug Coltrane, one of the top-ranked fighters in BKFC, recently offered his thoughts on company star Mike Perry's upcoming boxing fight against Jake Paul.

'ColdRed' next competes in gloveless combat at BKFC Kansas City in their co-main event tomorrow night. Coltrane collides with Zeb Vincent on August 16 and enters the ring as the promotion's number two-ranked middleweight.

Coltrane addressed 'The Problem Child' and Perry throwing down on July 20 while speaking on Bare Knuckle Bowker,

"I called what was gonna happen. I think people were underestimating Jake Paul a lot. One, he's a bigger dude than what a lot of people expect. The dude walks around at like 220, 230. He's a big guy and Mike Perry's a 170 pounder, to be honest. I knew that Perry's not a boxer, man... There's a lot of things that you can't do in BKFC that you can do in the boxing ring."
"I tell people all the time, man, boxing is different. Jake Paul has been boxing for like six years now and he's got plenty of money. So all he does is train with intelligent guys. He can afford to pay guys to come train him. So he's a real boxer now, and I feel that he will outbox Mike Perry easy."

Doug Coltrane and his connections to Mike Perry and Jake Paul

Doug Coltrane stated he planned to pull a Mike Perry on Mike Perry, referencing when 'Platinum' called out Conor McGregor at BKFC 41 for a faceoff. Afterwards, a series of photos blew up on social media between the two.

The plan was for the 38-year-old to call out Perry if he bested David Mundell, but Coltrane was finished in the second round at BKFC 53 by Mundell in his bid for middleweight gold last November. Coltrane wanted Mike Perry to win in his boxing return, but he was not surprised to see the former UFC veteran go 0-2 under Queensberry Rules.

The North Carolina native also challenged Paul via social media years ago. In his last posted tweet, Doug Coltrane took to X after Paul bested Tyron Woodley to throw his hat into the ring for a sweet science showdown with the 'Problem Child'.
