Drake bags $2.7M+ betting on Israel Adesanya, loses massive sum on Jorge Masvidal

Canadian rapper Drake, notorious for losing big money betting on UFC fights, got a rare win at UFC 287. He bagged a whopping $2.7 million from two bets he placed in favor of Israel Adesanya.

At the same time, the rapper's exploits at the event didn't come without adversity, as he also lost big betting on Jorge Masvidal.

The One Dance singer placed a 500k bet on 'The Last Stylebender' to win the fight. Furthermore, he also bet an additional $400k predicting the Nigerian-born Kiwi to finish the fight via knockout.

Both bets won big as Adesanya closed the show in the second round with a devastating KO over Alex Pereira, resulting in Drake bagging $885k for the win prediction and $1.840 million for the winning method bet resulting in a total payout of $2.725 million.

He had also shelled out a total of $500k, betting in favor of Jorge Masvidal in his fight against Gilbert Burns. However, the rapper was less fortunate in this case as 'Gambred' lost the fight via unanimous decision to the Brazilian.

Drake's misfortunes in betting have spawned numerous jokes, most famously the Drake Curse, which essentially means fighters the rapper bets on are sure to lose.

However, the Drake Curse seems officially laid to rest with the rapper bagging big payouts at UFC 287, betting on Adesanya, and at UFC 285, wagering on Jon Jones.

When Israel Adesanya rubbished the Drake Curse

While many athletes over the years have gained notoriety for being highly superstitious, it is safe to say UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya is not among them.

During a press conference at UFC 276 after his win against Jared Cannonier, 'The Last Stylebender' spoke about the absurdity of the belief in Curses.

As per the middleweight kingpin, anyone believing these absurd curses is "stupid." Speaking to the media, the 33-year-old detailed how he has dismantled many of these alleged curses, including the Drake Curse

"What f*****g curse...anyone who is so stupid - I don't post s**t but like, was it the Vettori fight? Me and Drizzy [Drake] were going back and forth [during] the fight week talking and after the fight... in the DMs talking as well... I've broken all the curses. I've broken the Drake curse now, soo stupid. I've broken the [green] short curse... EA cover curse, I've broken that... Whatever f****g more curses."
