Drew Dober fight at UFC Denver in jeopardy as opponent pulls out due to torn bicep
UFC lightweight mainstay Drew Dober's upcoming octagon assignment is in limbo as his opponent has reportedly pulled out of the clash due to a torn bicep.
Dober was scheduled to take on Mike Davis on July 13, 2024, at UFC Denver. 'Beast Boy' took to Instagram to detail the extent of his injury and share the footage of the incident as it unfolded.
In the footage from a sparring session, a grounded Davis attempted to break free from his opponent's grasp with underhooks. It was during that sequence that the American tore his bicep. He captioned the post:
"Completely tore my bicep during my sparring rounds on Tuesday. June 11th. Resulting in 3.5 in retraction in my bicep. Yes, I need surgery. They have to reattach the tendon by drilling it back into the bone."
Voicing distress at the unforeseen accident, he added:
"I'm so fu**ing disappointed…I try so fu*king hard… I’m dealt such a sh*t hand in a life full of skill and talent that I can't even use..I trained so fuc*ing hard for this. Running sprints at the track every week in 100°. Training twice a day, which I NEVER do. Doing extra drills and pad work. Running 3 miles before every single session, every f**king day. I even prepped my last 3 weeks of camp to be in Colorado so I could adapt."
