Drew Dober all heart and grit in statement issued minutes after doctor's stoppage loss due to nasty face cut

Drew Dober recently released a post-fight statement following his loss at UFC Denver. This past weekend, Dober suffered a severe cut just above his eye. The horrifying cut occurred from a spinning back elbow delivered by his opponent, Jean Silva.

Dober was originally scheduled to compete against Mike Davis. However, Davis withdrew himself from the bout due to an injury. Silva stepped in as a short-term replacement, having previously participated at UFC 303 two weeks prior.

For mixed martial arts fans worldwide, the bout, which was held in the Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado, was an incredible event. However, Dober got cut above the eye at one point, and the cut got worse as the fight went on.

Silva won the contest after the referee stepped in and stopped the fight in the third round. The Brazilian is now on an 11-fight winning streak after the victory.

Following his loss, Dober went to X and issued a post-fight statement, writing:

''Such an honor to be able to step in there and show off my heart and determination. Thank you, Denver, and the UFC for these moments and opportunities. There is no shame in failure. Just an opportunity to become a better man.''

Also, during his post-fight octagon interview, Dober discussed his injury and praised his opponent for filling in on short notice.

''Yeah, I got these Neanderthal eyebrows. They cut open very easily. But, I'm talking about both Jean Silva and I, this is what I mean being a warrior, right? He took it on two weeks notice, I will fight anybody. This is what fighting's all about. I don't care who, when and where. We throw hands and we make war... Denver, Colorado, I love you guys so much. You've supported me from the beginning. I will be back in here. I'm gonna heal this eyebrow up and we're gonna go back to work, my friend."
