Dricus du Plessis gives subtle reaction to intriguing Conor McGregor parallel

Dricus du Plessis recently gave a subtle reaction to an intriguing parallel with Conor McGregor.

Having made his UFC debut back in 2020, du Plessis has cemented himself as one of the best in the middleweight division. In what will be his seventh fight in the promotion, the South African fighter will fight Sean Strickland this weekend for the UFC 185-pound championship.

Ahead of the bout, an interesting parallel has been drawn between du Plessis and McGregor. X user @TclarkIV took to the social media platform to reveal how there's a lot in common between the Irishman's first title shot back at UFC 194 and the South African's first title shot at the upcoming UFC 297 pay-per-view.

The tweet read:

"6-0 in UFC heading into title fight. Fighting to bring a belt to their country. Finishers with only 1 decision UFC win. Had an opponent rattled by trash talk. The signs are there! 297 could look an awful lot like 194"

Upon seeing the post, du Plessis gave a subtle reaction and simply reposted it. Interestingly, the South African fighter recently revealed that McGregor's KO of Aldo is his favorite knockout as well.

That said, it remains to be seen if the du Plessis can earn a statement victory over Strickland this weekend similar to that of McGregor against Aldo at UFC 194.

Israel Adesanya gives his prediction for Sean Strickland vs. Dricus du Plessis

Going into the highly anticipated bout between Sean Strickland and Dricus du Plessis, a lot has been said about who has the best chance of winning the bout. While Strickland has emerged as a slight favorite on the betting odds, former UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya has backed du Plessis to get the job done.

Adesanya, who lost his UFC middleweight championship at the hands of Strickland back at UFC 293, believes du Plessis will most likely stop 'Tarzan' via submission this weekend. In a recently posted video on his YouTube channel, FREESTYLEBENDER, he said:

"Official pick, I'm going to go with Dricus. Does it go the distance? I'm gonna say no. Not that I don't respect Sean or his skills, the guy beat me, so of course I respect his skills."
