Dricus du Plessis on who deserves the next title shot at 185 pounds
After successfully making his first title defense at middleweight, Dricus du Plessis made an appearance at the UFC 305 post-fight press conference. During his time there, the South African was asked who, according to him, should be next in line for a title shot between Robert Whittaker and Sean Strickland.
'Stillknocks' named Whittaker as his pick and proceeded to make a case in his favor. He said:
"Robert Whittaker deserves the [next title] shot. I think he's being done over. Sean Strickland's only saving grace is the fact that he went the decision, that's it... Whittaker beat [Paulo] Costa in the more spectacular fashion I believe than Strickland did. And then, willing to fight Khamzat [Chimaev]."
