Dustin Poirier admits that his disfigured nose resulted from a punch by Conor McGregor’s conqueror
If you take a glance at Dustin Poirier, you'll notice that his nose appears twisted. This is a common occurrence among mixed martial artists and has been something Poirier has dealt with for more than six years.
Despite undergoing two surgeries, Poirier still faces the consequences of a previously broken nose. The former UFC interim lightweight titleholder recently admitted that the reason for his disfigured nose is a punch thrown by Joe Duffy, who boasts a victory over Conor McGregor on his record.
Dustin Poirier recently shared a video on Twitter that sheds light on the cause of his crooked nose. The video is from Poirier's fight against Duffy at UFC 195, in which Duffy threw a powerful punch that resulted in Poirier's nose being broken.
The shared clip clearly shows the moment of impact and provides a visual explanation for the current state of Poirier's nose.
'The Diamond' tweeted:
"Shaped like a boomerang now!"
It was Dustin Poirier's 14th UFC appearance at UFC 195 in January 2016. During the fight, which went the full three rounds, Poirier showcased his tenacity and resilience.
It's worth noting that this was only the fourth instance up to that point in Poirier's career where he had participated in a full-length three-round bout.
Despite being rocked with numerous clean punches, Poirier escaped the scare and fought through adversity to win by unanimous decision.
Dustin Poirier has declared his desire to fight again
Three months after his thrilling performance in November, Dustin Poirier has expressed his desire to return to the UFC octagon. He has called on the promotion to schedule his next fight.
'The Diamond' had guaranteed an impressive showing when he took on Michael Chandler at UFC 281 in late 2022, and he lived up to his promise. Despite some bumps along the way, the intense back-and-forth bout concluded with Poirier becoming the first fighter to submit the former three-time Bellator champion.
Poirier recently responded to a fan's social media post expressing their eagerness for a fight announcement, stating that he was "patiently waiting." However, Poirier's response indicated that he was growing impatient with the UFC and called for the promotion to schedule his return.
