Dustin Poirier “has more dollars than sense," says Dan Hooker, while calling for a shot at redemption against the Louisiana native
Dan Hooker and Dustin Poirier were involved in one of the best fights one can ever witness in the main event of UFC Vegas 4 in 2020. The pair went to war over five rounds, with the crowdless-Apex Center providing a unique atmosphere for fans to fully appreciate the brutality of MMA, as Poirier was crowned the winner.
Hooker and Poirier have continued to have fantastic careers since, accumulating records of 3-3 and 4-3 respectively whilst facing some of the best fighters in the world, including Islam Makhachev.
Having fully recovered from a broken arm sustained against Jalin Turner at UFC 290, 'The Hangman' will return to action in August against perennial lightweight contender Mateusz Gamrot at UFC 305.
Ahead of his return, the Kiwi was interviewed by AllStar, where he entertained a potential rematch against 'The Diamond'. While referencing Poirier's indecisiveness about his possible retirement, Hooker said:
"That fella's got more dollars than sense. I'm not gonna go speculate [on that fight]. It's up to him what he wants to do. Obviously, I'd fight him. But that's a guy that's said he's thinking about walking away from the sport. It's probably not a great fight for him, you don't want to go through that again. Obviously I want to run that back, we've seen how I do when I am able to train."

Dan Hooker "can't be bothered" sparring Israel Adesanya as he is hitting too hard
Dan Hooker and Israel Adesanya have been teammates for over a decade at the renowned City Kickboxing Gym in New Zealand.
'The Hangman' is the team captain of the gym's professional outfit, and ahead of Adesanya's return to fighting against Dricus du Plessis at UFC 305, Hooker provided an exciting preview.
According to the lightweight contender, 'The Last Stylebender' currently weighs 230 pounds and is hitting so hard in sparring that Hooker isn't interested in training with the middleweight.
During a recent interview with Submission Radio, the 34-year old said:
"I can't even be bothered sparring [Adesanya] at the moment. I think he's like 105 kilos [230 pounds]. He just kicked me in the leg and I was like, 'Get f**ked.' He's had some time off. He was carrying some injuries, he's still a lot of time just packing on some size and a lot of strength. He's hitting like a truck... He's hitting too hard."
