Dustin Poirier reacts to Dana White slapping his wife
Dustin Poirier has commented on Dana White’s ongoing domestic violence situation.
The UFC president divided the MMA community when a video of him slapping his wife on New Year’s Eve emerged. Although some people believe White was justified because his wife hit him first, most people can agree that domestic violence is never ok. During an interview with BloodyElbow, Poirier had this to say about the situation:
“I’m not sure. I have no clue. You should never put your hands on a woman. I don’t know the repercussions that come along with somebody of his stature, running these businesses and doing something like that. I have no clue. It’s not a good look for sure.”
Several days after the video emerged, the UFC president apologized, claiming there is no excuse, but Endeavor and ESPN have yet to enforce any disciplinary action. Anne White has also commented on the situation, saying this has never happened before, and that alcohol was a primary contributor.
Old quotes from White about domestic violence have resurfaced, including him saying people can’t come back from hitting women. The question is, will the UFC president be punished in any way other than public embarrassment?

Dustin Poirier doesn’t know what should happen next to Dana White
Some believe Dana White has not received enough backlash for slapping his wife. There has been an outpouring of requests for his resignation or something substantial as a punishment. During the same interview with BloodyElbow, Dustin Poirier was asked if White should be suspended. He responded by saying:
“I’m staying out of it because I’d be talking out my ass. I don’t know what should happen. I don’t know what should happen.”
Since the awful video surfaced, most fighters seem to be distancing themselves from White. ‘The Diamond’ made it clear that no man should hit a woman, but overall, he wants to be disassociated.
Poirier fought once in 2022, taking out Michael Chandler with a third-round submission at UFC 281. Going into 2023, the 33-year-old is eyeing another lightweight title shot.
