Dustin Poirier's witty reply shuts down online troll making disrespectful remark about his wife

Being one of the best fighters on the planet, UFC lightweight Dustin Poirier is quite proficient in settling matters with his fists. However, a recent Twitter exchange proved that 'The Diamond' can also settle things with verbal finesse.

Earlier today, an online troll replied to a photo of Poirier and his wife with comedian Theo Von in a rather Conor McGregor-esque fashion.

After losing his trilogy fight against Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021, a frustrated McGregor accused 'The Diamond's' wife of being on his DMs, a claim Poirier has since denied.

Responding to the troll, the 34-year-old former interim champion suggested that the joke was outdated at this point:

"Good one!!! Couple years too late!"

Dustin Poirier is one of the best lightweights in the UFC with an impressive record of 29-7-1NC.

'The Diamond' is the No.2-ranked lightweight contender in the promotion and boasts wins against numerous high-profile fighters, including former lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez, former interim lightweight champion Justin Gaethje, and former Bellator lightweight champion Michael Chandler, among others.

Although he has come up short twice in undisputed title fights, the American is not far away from a chance to fight for the belt again before he hangs up his gloves for good.

Dustin Poirier welcomes a rematch against Justin Gaethje

After his recent electrifying win against Rafael Fiziev at UFC 286, Justin Gaethje called out for a rematch against his former foe Dustin Poirier, and it seems the Louisiana native is all in favor of the idea.

In a recent interview with FanSided MMA's Amy Kaplan, Poirier explained why a fight with 'The Highlight' makes sense. As per 'The Diamond', he is only interested in dangerous fights:

"It’s a fight that makes me nervous. When I hear a name, and I get nervous, it’s motivation. Those are the kind of fights that... same thing with Chandler. When I heard Chandler’s name when they called me with Michael Chandler, I was nervous because I knew the danger of those kinds of fights, and that’s what motivates me. Same thing with Justin. If they do call me and he’s the name that they say, maybe it happens. We’ll see."
