Dustin Poirier shares his opinion on Jon Jones vs. Islam Makhachev pound-for-pound debate
Dustin Poirier has weighed in on the ongoing pound-for-pound debate in the UFC. Many in the community are arguing about who the pound-for-pound best fighter is between Islam Makhachev and Jon Jones.
'The Diamond' recently made an appearance on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, during which he discussed various things like his recent fight and his thoughts on potentially parting ways with the sport.
At one point, Helwani asked Poirier whether he would consider Makhachev as the pound-for-pound best fighter at the moment following their clash at UFC 302.
'The Diamond' responded by saying:
"That's tough because Jon Jones has never been beaten, you know? That's tough. Top two."

Makhachev currently holds the number one spot on the UFC pound-for-pound rankings. But, many believe 'Bones' to be more deserving of that position, including UFC CEO Dana White.
During his UFC 302 post-fight press conference, White made a case for Jones to be the pound-for-pound best fighter:
"[Islam Makhachev's] one of the greatest of all time. I think he is incredible. I don't think he is pound-for-pound best fighter in the world. For anybody to call Islam the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world when Jon Joens is still f**king fighting, it's nuts! [Those on the rankings panel] shouldn't be ranking the pound-for-pound or doing any of the f**king rankings ever, if that's what you really think."
