Eddie Hearn lays out the path for Gervonta Davis vs. Shakur Stevenson to happen in 2025

Gervonta Davis and Shakur Stevenson hold the WBA and WBC lightweight world titles, respectively. Furthermore, the pair are both regarded as some of the best fighters in the world, regardless of weight classes.

A potential title unification bout between the pair would be a bona fide mega-fight, and leading boxing promoter Eddie Hearn outlined a potential path for the fight to materialize in 2025.

Stevenson is currently a free agent and in talks with several boxing promotions, including Matchroom Boxing, headed by Hearn. The British promoter is hopeful of acquiring the talented fighter's signature and would be interested in scheduling a clash with 'Tank' in the near future.

Hearn was interviewed by Cigar Talk, where he discussed the potential bout, saying this:

"Shakur is in a good spot at the moment, there's a lot of people talking about him. He's gonna have a few offers, hopefully he comes with [Matchroom Boxing]. But it's got to work for us and him. But when you look at 'Tank's' options, the only thing he can really do is move to [140 pounds]."

He continued:

"If I'm Shakur, I chase the [William Zepeda] fight. I keep building my brand into the 'Tank' fight next year. That's a big fight when it happens. It's one of the best fights in boxing."

Shakur Stevenson explains why Gervonta Davis is rated higher than him by the public

Shakur Stevenson and Gervonta Davis are two of the most talented boxers in the sport right now. The pair hold records of 22-0 and 30-0, respectively. However, according to Stevenson, there is a large difference in their public perception.

The WBC lightweight champion believes that Davis' knockout power is the main reason why he is given more flowers by the public. Of his 30 career wins, 'Tank' has scored 28 knockouts and is revered as one of the sport's top punchers.

But Stevenson believes he is as talented as Davis, only in a different department of the 'sweet science'. He told Cigar Talk this:

"[Davis] is blessed with a God-given ability that if he cracks you, nine times out of 10, you're gonna go down. That's his ability. I'm blessed with God-given eyes. My eyes are amazing. A lot of people don't understand how good my eyes are."
