Eddie Hearn narrows star client Anthony Joshua's future down to two choices after suspension from British Boxing Board of Control
Eddie Hearn, Matchroom Boxing's chairman, has offered an update on Anthony Joshua's future. The British heavyweight won't be retiring. In fact, according to a recent Hearn interview for Boxing Social, Joshua has two options on the table.
At the moment, Joshua is awaiting a lift on his medical suspension following a brutal knockout loss to Daniel Dubois. The bout saw him absorb a tremendous amount of damage, consisting of several knockdowns, before a knockout ultimately shut his lights out.
As Hearn says it, a rematch with Dubois for the IBF heavyweight belt is one of Joshua's options, provided the latter is in fight shape by the date proposed by Saudi sports minister Turki Alalshikh.
"We've got a very simple decision to make. If Josh[ua] is physically ready for the date His Excellency [Turki Alalshikh] is proposing, and I'll let him talk further on that date when the time comes, we will rematch Daniel Dubois."
Alternatively, a matchup with Tyson Fury is also being considered, given the amount of interest and history surrounding it. The fight could be contested even without the heavyweight title on the line if 'The Gypsy King' loses to Oleksandr Usyk in their rematch.
"If not, you're really waiting for Tyson Fury. And if Tyson Fury loses against [Oleksandr] Usyk, it's still a big fight, but it's not for the world heavyweight title."

While a potential bout with Deontay Wilder could also be booked, Joshua's next two fights seem to be set in stone depending on a few variables.
Eddie Hearn and Anthony Joshua have a close relationship
Eddie Hearn has always had Anthony Joshua's best interests at heart, so it should come as no surprise that he is campaigning for a rematch in 'AJ's' favor following his crushing knockout loss to Daniel Dubois. In fact, for those unaware, Hearn has been Joshua's promoter since 2013.
Having been by Joshua's side for over a decade, Hearn has seen his ups and downs. Despite Joshua losing some of his luster following his upset loss to Andy Ruiz, and the back-to-back losses to Oleksandr Usyk, the promotional efforts from Hearn have still maintained 'AJ's' commercial appeal.
