Eddie Hearn opens up on $100 million lawsuit against Jake Paul following bribery comments in 2022: "What he said was unacceptable"

Eddie Hearn is taking Jake Paul to court over comments made by the boxer in 2022. The news comes as Paul prepares for his clash with Mike Tyson, which is expected to take place on Nov. 15.

According to new reports, 'The Problem Child' has been ordered to appear in court on Oct. 16 by a New York judge.

In 2022, Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano clashed in a highly anticipated title fight at a sold-out Madison Square Garden Arena. Taylor, promoted by Hearn at the time, secured victory via split decision.

Serrano was signed to Paul's Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) when the fight happened, and he did not take kindly to the judges' scorecards. So much so that Paul accused the Matchroom Boxing chairman of paying judge Glen Feldman to lean towards Taylor.

Hearn was less than pleased with the accusation and has taken the American to court. Following the judge's decision to hand Paul an official court date, the British boxing promoter said this during an interview with Boxing King Media:

"The reports came out today because it was documented in court that he tried to get the case dismissed and it was ruled against him. It proceeds on October 16th, it's an unfortunate position to be in. But it's not something that I'm prepared to let slide. What he said was unacceptable and detrimental to my reputation and our business. It has to be dealt with."

Eddie Hearn believes Devin Haney's lawsuit against Ryan Garcia is positive for boxing

Devin Haney suffered an unexpected defeat to Ryan Garcia when the pair met in the ring in April. Garcia's pre-fight antics left many believing he wouldn't make it to fight night, and his three-pound weight miss added to the skepticism of his chance of winning.

But he dominated Haney for large portions of the bout, knocking him down multiple times en route to a decision win.

After the fight, it was revealed that Garcia had failed two drug tests for ostarine, and is now being sued by Haney.

Eddie Hearn, who worked as Haney's co-promoter for the bout, recently discussed the lawsuit during an interview with Boxing Social. He said this:

"Win, lose or draw in court, I think this is a good thing to deter fighters from using performance enhancing drugs. The penalty is not strict enough, Ryan Garcia is a good example, where he got a year ban, by the time you have six months off you're going back into camp. But the deterrent of losing tens of millions of dollars is much worse."
