Eddie Hearn wildly claims that Terence Crawford won’t fight again unless he secures mega-fight with Canelo Alvarez: “He’s comfortable, isn’t he?"

Terence Crawford's career has come to an end unless he can secure a massive fight with Canelo Alvarez, according to Eddie Hearn. The Matchroom Boxing chairman recently made the surprising claim that 'Bud' is satisfied with his career and, outside of a mega-fight with the Mexican, has no interest in boxing.

'Bud' most recently competed against Israil Madrimov, a client of Hearn's. The American secured the WBA and WBO interim super welterweight world titles. Crawford has expressed interest in becoming the undisputed world champion at 154 pounds, so Hearn's comments have come from nowhere.

Earlier this week, the WBO ordered champion Sebastian Fundora to defend his WBC and WBO titles against the Nebraska native. Their decision will likely be music to Crawford's ears, should he still be interested in pursuing the undisputed title at 154 pounds.

During a recent interview with Fight Hub TV, Hearn discussed the future of 'Bud', saying:

"I don't think Terence Crawford will ever fight again. I think unless he gets Canelo, I don't think Crawford will fight again. He definitely won't fight Virgil Ortiz, won't rematch Madrimov. He made a lot of money and I think he's comfortable, isn't he?"

Eddie Hearn shuts down notion he was disrespectful to Terence Crawford

Terence Crawford defeated Israil Madrimov via decision in a competitive clash on 3 Aug., much to the frustration of Eddie Hearn, who felt his client had done enough to win. The Matchroom Boxing chairman expressed his annoyance during several interviews post-fight, prompting a response from 'Bud'.

Crawford took to social media to poke fun at the British promoter, sparking a war of words that appeared to be more than friendly banter.

During a recent interview with iFL TV, Hearn was asked to share his thoughts on the exchange. With 'Bud' labeling the promoter as "disrespectful," the Matchroom Boxing chairman has responded:

"I've never once been disrespectful. I don't promote Terence Crawford, I can't speak more highly of the man. I spent the whole build-up, particularly fight week, praising him and promoting him. There was a lot of tongue-in-cheek stuff, but I thought Madrimov edged a very close fight. I also think we did an amazing job for Terence... I think me and Terence gel well."
