Elon Musk feels Donald Trump's victory proved "elections are not a function of money"
The 2024 United States presidential elections witnessed a fierce battle between the Republican Party's Donald Trump and the Democratic Party's Kamala Harris. While both sides had the strong backing of powerful individuals, a recent post from @SethDillon on X stated that statistically, more billionaires backed Harris.
The post cited Forbes' data stating 52 billionaires backed Trump while a staggering 83 billionaires lent their support to Harris' campaign. Data also showed that Harris raised $1.6 billion for election funds while Trump raised $1.1 billion. Unfortunately for Harris, the campaign did not yield the desired results as Trump earned his second presidential tenure.
Elon Musk reacted to @SethDillon's post, stating that Trump's victory proved that financial strength can't sway the election results:
"Worth noting that far more “billionaires” backed Harris than Trump and she raised almost 50% more money. Nonetheless, America showed that elections aren’t just a function of money and gave Trump a resounding victory!"
Musk also took a jab at the mainstream media in another post on X for allegedly presenting Trump in a negative light. @TheRabbitHole posted a graphic indicating that Trump received approximately 15 percent positive coverage in the mainstream media while Harris received 78 percent positive coverage. Musk reacted:
"Propaganda is far less effective when there is a real-time source of truth on X."
