Elon Musk shares one-word reaction to Joe Rogan and Dave Smith's discussion about media bias toward Democrats
Joe Rogan recently hosted political commentator and fellow comedian Dave Smith on episode #2225 of his podcast. During the pair's conversation, they touched on the favoritism that mainstream media shows to the Democratic Party, whose presidential nominee, Kamala Harris, recently lost the 2024 U.S. elections.
This drew the attention of noted Democratic critic and Donald Trump supporter, Elon Musk, who the UFC commentator singled out as the one person behind a mainstream social media platform that doesn't favor either the Democratic or Republican Party.
Musk took to X, which he acquired in 2022, to react positively to Rogan's assertions.
"Exactly"
The two men have been kindred spirits in terms of their sociopolitical opinions over the last few years. In fact, Rogan championed Musk's acquisition of X prior to it being made official, as he felt that the SpaceX CEO would serve as a bastion of free speech.
Rogan previously opined that bad speech and poor ideas shouldn't be censored. Instead, they should be given an equal platform to contend against better ideas. That, in his mind, is the only way to progress.
Both Rogan and Musk were pleased with Trump's 2024 election win. Curiously, Rogan featured Trump on episode #2219 of his podcast. He was open to doing the same with Harris, but the sitdown never came to fruition. Several Republican sources, however, felt that it would have been disastrous for Harris to have done so.
Joe Rogan and Elon Musk aren't always of the same mind
While Elon Musk is an admitted Donald Trump supporter, Joe Rogan is not necessarily the same. The UFC commentator favors him more than he does any Democratic alternative, but he seemed to prefer former independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. instead, drawing the ire of Republicans.
"For the record, this isn't an endorsement. This is me saying that I like RFK Jr. as a person, and I really appreciate the way he discusses things with civility and intelligence. I think we could use more of that in this world."
This forced Rogan to issue a statement on X, clarifying that he was not making an official endorsement of Kennedy. However, on episode #2220 of The Joe Rogan Experience, Rogan again praised Kennedy, showing particular appreciation for the latter's temperament compared to other high-profile politicians.
