"Escaped from me" - John Lineker says a dream fight against Demetrious Johnson has eluded him
Former ONE bantamweight MMA world champion John Lineker has fought some of the best athletes throughout his professional career. But there is one man that he has eyes on when talking about his dream opponent.
During a recent Reddit takeover, Lineker was asked by user LatterTarget7 about a fighter he wished he could have fought in his career, and he quickly quipped one name in mind as he answered:
"Demetrious Johnson has escaped from me"
This hypothetical matchup could have been a battle of power and IQ, with Lineker bringing his 'Hands of Stone,' while the 'Mighty Mouse' will parade his well-rounded skills to counter the one-shot knockout power of the Brazilian.
Currently, Lineker boasts an impressive record of six wins, two losses, and one no-contest result under the world's largest martial arts organization since his promotional debut in October 2019.
Some of the notable names that he added to his victim list were Kevin Belingon, Troy Worthen, Bibiano Fernandes, and Stephen Loman.
John Lineker is still fully focused on MMA despite competing in Muay Thai for his next fight
During the recent ONE 168: Denver press conference, Lineker made it clear that his main focus is still fighting in MMA despite his upcoming Muay Thai debut on Sept. 6 against Asa Ten Pow inside the Ball Arena in Colorado.
According to him, he enjoys these types of challenges, which is why he accepted this challenge from the promotion and clarified:
"So this was a challenge that I accepted, and my main focus is still in MMA. But I want to say thank you to ONE Championship for giving me this opportunity to fight here in Muay Thai, but my focus is on MMA."
ONE 168: Denver will air live from the Ball Arena in Colorado on Sept. 6. during the U.S. primetime. Tickets for the event are available on Ticketmaster.
