Dustin Poirier details street fight after man inappropriately touched his wife

Dustin Poirier seems like a loving father and great husband, and that was on display when his protective nature led him and his friend to beat up a group of people after one of them inappropriately touched his wife Jolie during Mardi Gras.

'The Diamond' is known for having an elite-level sense of striking, as has been seen throughout his career in the octagon. As he approaches a sensational 30 fights under the UFC banner, the lightweight has proved to be one of the best modern-era fighters to have competed in the promotion.

During a sit-down with popular comedian Theo Von, Dustin Poirier detailed his most recent street fight experience and how his friend was knocking people out "left and right":

"I haven't been part of a street fight in I don't know how long. The last one that I can think of that I've been in was one Mardi Gras. I was at my brother's house, and it was like a street party... My wife was leaning over a fence talking to somebody and then guys from next door came over and bent over her back while she was bending over and put his hand on her stomach and started talking in her ear. Bro, I ripped him off, I had a buddy of mine who fights. He started dropping this other guy's people left and right. A hundred percent, every shot that landed, everybody fell."

Dustin Poirier title fights: How has 'The Diamond' looked when competing for UFC gold?

For over a decade, Dustin Poirier has been strapping on the gloves and putting on a show in the UFC. Three of the lovable brawler's 28 fights have been title bouts.

His first taste of gold came when he and Max Holloway competed for the UFC interim lightweight title back at UFC 236, in a Fight of the Night affair in which he walked away victorious.

In hopes of unifying the championship, Poirier came up against a seemingly unbeatable Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 242. The Dagestani great claimed the win on the night. The 34-year-old's most recent title fight came in a losing effort against Charles Oliveira at UFC 269.
