“Every strong man needs a strong woman” - Jonathan Haggerty credits girlfriend Kenzie for support in camp

ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion Jonathan Haggerty is thankful for the support he has been getting from girlfriend Kenzie ahead of his scheduled title defense next month in the United States. He said her presence serves to balance things out and keeps him focused on the task at hand.

'The General' will defend his Muay Thai gold against ONE flyweight kickboxing king Superlek Kiatmoo9 in a super title fight, which will serve as the headlining match at ONE 168 in Denver, Colorado, on Sept. 6.

Orpington, England, native Haggerty, who is also the bantamweight kickboxing world champion, is currently deep in training ahead of his marquee match with his team, which also includes his lady love.

In the latest episode of his video series on YouTube for the Superlek match uploaded on Aug. 19, Jonathan Haggerty spoke, among other things, about the role that Kenzie plays in his preparation.

He said:

"My family is very supportive for every fight I have. I'm out here in Koh Samui with my younger brother. I'm also out here with my girlfriend, Kenzie. She plays a big part in my fight camps as well.
"She has always been supportive of me and I'm very thankful she's able to come out here for a whole fight camp, and we're together as a team. So yeah, every strong man needs a stong woman behind him."

Jonathan Haggerty successfully defended his Muay Thai world title for the first time back in February with a third-round TKO win over Brazilian challenger Felipe Lobo.

ONE 168: Denver will take place at the Ball Arena and air live and for free in U.S. primetime to North American fans with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription. Tickets for the event are available for purchase on Ticketmaster.

Jonathan Haggerty out to redeem himself from previous loss to Superlek at ONE 168

Apart from retaining the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai gold, Jonathan Haggerty is also out to redeem himself from a previous loss to Superlek Kiatmoo9 in their scheduled rematch at ONE 168: Denver on Sept. 6.

The two topnotch strikers first battled way back in 2018, before they came onboard ONE Championship in the United Kingdom, where the Thai superstar won by TKO (doctor stoppage/cut) in the second round.

It is a defeat that is serving as a motor for Haggerty as he heads into his marquee superfight with Superlek at ONE 168. The Englishman told this in an inteview with Sky Sports MMA Club, saying:

"I fought him before, around seven to eight years ago, and he managed to stop me in the second round due to a cut. But, now it's the time to get revenge, and I'm excited for it."

Haggerty has since rebounded well after losing to Superlek, winning nine of his next 11 matches, including the last seven in ONE Championship.
