“Everything was good” - John Lineker says his game plan vs Alexey Balyko was executed to perfection
Former ONE bantamweight MMA world champion and recent Muay Thai fighter 'Hands of Stone' John Lineker of Brazil took home his second victory in 'the art of eight limbs', and the hard-hitting 34-year-old says he was satisfied with how the fight played out.
How could he not? Lineker needed just a small portion of the very first round to dispatch talented Russian Alexey Balyko at ONE Fight Night 25: Nicolas vs. Eersel II on Prime Video last weekend.
'Hands of Stone' battered his opponent with wild clubbing hooks the way only he knows how, effectively sending the Russian into the nether realm. After the fight, Lineker talked about his game plan and how he feels it was executed to near perfection.
The Brazilian star told veteran ONE Championship broadcast analyst Mitch 'The Dragon' Chilson in the ring after the fight:
"That was the plan to block his left hand and get my left hand on him, and everything was good."
The end came at the 2:14 mark of the very first round, with Lineker taking home the emphatic win by knockout. In addition, it was another amazing Muay Thai performance from the Brazilian banger, who earned another $50,000 bonus from ONE chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong for his efforts.
ONE Fight Night 25: Nicolas vs. Eersel II on Prime Video went down live from the historic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, last Saturday, October 5, 2024.
Fans in the United States and Canada can catch all the action via replay on-demand with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription.
What's next for 'Hands of Stone' John Lineker?
'Hands of Stone' John Lineker wants to continue his Muay Thai exploits by calling out the biggest Muay Thai star there is today -- 'The Iron Man' Rodtang Jitmuangnon.
Lineker mentioned he was interested in a potential showdown with the ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion, but it remains to be seen whether or not ONE Championship is interested in making this fight happen.
