"Evolve and shape me as a person" - Teenage phenom Adrian Lee says his emotional maturity comes from MMA
It's safe to say that Adrian Lee has not lived the typical life of an 18-year-old due to his career ambitions. The same can be said for all of the Lee siblings, who were born into a martial arts family where training and competition were a way of life.
For Adrian, he believes that being thrust into this lifestyle, where he has found a real passion for competing, has made him grow up even faster.
Despite being so young in his career, the lightweight MMA prospect has a steady head on his shoulders and is taking things one step at a time. Although he only recently made his MMA debut at the beginning of June, Lee has been preparing for this path for many years.
In a recent interview with ONE Championship ahead of his return at ONE 168, he spoke about the benefits that this career path has brought him outside of the cage:
"I think that the maturity that MMA brings me definitely has helped evolve and shape me as a person and definitely helps me have an open mind and understand things better."
Adrian Lee will look to show this maturity once again
There was always going to be hype around Adrian Lee based on his family's success in the ONE Championship. At ONE 167, he kickedstart his pro career by submitting Antonio Mammarella in a dominant performance.
Now he heads to another one of the biggest shows of the year to compete at the Ball Arena in Denver on September 7.
This time around, Lee will face Nico Cornejo, another opportunity for him to showcase his skills and mindset for such a young fighter. Competing in MMA wasn't a rash decision for this rising contender and as a result, he is well prepared for the years ahead of him.
Tickets for ONE 168: Denver are available via Ticketmaster.
