Ex-Navy SEAL reacts to Joe Rogan's staunch stance in favor of U.S. veterans getting access to psychedelic drugs for PTSD
Joe Rogan seems to be a staunch advocate for the therapeutic application of psychedelics, particularly for U.S. veterans grappling with PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder). In a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience with Republican vice-presidential candidate JD Vance, the UFC color commentator discussed the need for veterans to gain access to psychedelic therapies for treating PTSD.
Rogan highlighted anecdotal evidence suggesting that psychedelics could offer significant relief to veterans struggling with mental health issues. The 57-year-old believes that the traumatic experiences the veterans have to endure during their time in service often lead to severe long-term mental health issues. Speaking about considering integrating psychedelic therapy into treatment options, Rogan said:
"There are so many anecdotal stories about veterans experiencing relief that I think it should be available to them. Especially to veterans... There's been some research, John Hopkins did some research on psychedelics. They found benefits [but] there's also danger. There are certain people who are vulnerable and they shouldn't be taking these things. There are people who have hard time with regular reality."
Rogan added:
"I keep going back to veterans because I think we require an insane thing of them. We take regular people who live in a civilized society we send them over to Afghanistan and Iraq and have them engaged in the absolutely most brutal thing that people do which is war. They see their friends blown apart, they get shot, they see people die, they have to kill people and then they come back here and then they're supposed to just acclimate."
Former Navy SEAL/CIA Contractor Shawn Ryan took to X to thank Rogan for being " a voice for veterans." He wrote:
"Thank you @joerogan for being a voice for Veterans. The whole conversation with @JDVance was great."

Joe Rogan talks about stringent abortion laws in certain states in the U.S.
Joe Rogan recently expressed serious concerns about restrictive abortion laws during the aforementioned podcast episode with JD Vance. He pointed out that these laws can put women in vulnerable situations and highlighted that the stringent measures are usually driven by legislation largely crafted and enforced by men.
He noted that these policies not only restrict women’s autonomy over their bodies but also create complex legal issues for those seeking reproductive care out of state. Rogan said:
"One of the issues is that men are making decisions for what women can and can't do. One of the more concerning aspects of this is, if you live in a state like Texas, where there's a limit to when you can get an abortion... at that point of time you can't even tell whether or not you're pregnant and this puts women in vulnerable positions. Then there's this thought that they could go to another state where it is legal and have an abortion, but they could possibly be prosecuted for that in their state. That's concerning to me."
