Ex-UFC contender Taila Santos takes jibe at the promotion ahead of PFL playoff bout against Liz Carmouche
Taila Santos recently opened up about her upcoming PFL playoff matchup against Liz Carmouche and took a jibe at the UFC. She highlighted the freedom she currently has and noted that it was a stark contrast from her previous employer.
The former UFC contender most memorably lost a controversial decision against then women's flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko, which many believed she should have won. After losing her bout to Erin Blanchfield, she departed the promotion to join the PFL and is scheduled to fight Liz Carmouche in the semi-finals of the 2024 $1 million regular season.
During her pre-fight media availability ahead of PFL Nashville, the 31-year-old took an opportunity to take a jibe at the UFC. In doing so, Santos highlighted a major difference in what it's like competing for her current employer as opposed to her former employer by mentioning that she believes there are more opportunities for her. She said:
"I'm getting the opportunity to expose and promote myself much more than my previous promotion [UFC]."

Taila Santos takes aim at Dakota Ditcheva ahead of PFL semi-finals
Taila Santos also turned her attention to the final four in the 2024 PFL women's flyweight regular season as she took aim at Dakota Ditcheva.
Ditcheva has surged in popularity in the PFL and has been among the promotion's highly touted prospects. The Brazilian will be fighting Bellator flyweight champion Liz Carmouche, while 'Dangerous' will be fighting Jena Bishop. The winners will match up in the finals for the 2024 PFL world championship and $1 million grand prize.
During her aforementioned pre-fight media availability, Santos mentioned that she hasn't been too impressed by the 26-year-old like others in the MMA community have and added that she doesn't believe Ditcheva will advance to the finals. She said:
"I think this is the event where we find out a lot about Ditcheva. From what I've seen, I don't think she's everything they've made her out to be. Not yet at least."
