Ex-UFC fighter Sabah Homasi details training with Dustin Poirier at the ATT (Exclusive)
Former UFC welterweight contender Sabah Homasi is gearing up to face Brennan Ward on February 4, 2023, at Bellator 290. He is currently ranked No.8 in the Bellator welterweight rankings and seems eager to break into the top five of the division with a victory over Ward.
Since 2008, Homasi has been training at the American Top Team, home to top-ranked UFC stars such as Dustin Poirier and Jorge Masvidal. Between 2016 and 2018, the American competed in the UFC three times.
However, Sabah Homasi's brief stint with the UFC was uneventful considering he lost all three bouts via KO/TKO. In an attempt to revitalize his career, 'The Sleek Sheikh' re-signed with Bellator in 2019 and has won five of his last seven fights in the organization. He is also riding a two-fight win streak going into the fight against Brennan Ward.
Speaking about regularly training with the likes of Dustin Poirier in an exclusive interview with Giancarlo Aulino of Sportskeeda MMA, Sabah Homasi said:
"Dustin's always competitive. We push each other, you know. It's just great to have someone like him in my corner as a friend and a teammate."
Homasi elaborated on Dustin Poirier's philanthropic efforts and selfless commitment to enhance the lives of others through The Good Fight Foundation, saying:
"He is definitely an inspiration. I love everything that he's doing with his foundation and stuff. How can you not love someone like that? Just helps people constantly and I think that's amazing."
Dustin Poirier is well respected in the mixed martial arts (MMA) community for his altruistic work and honorable character outside of the ring, in addition to being one of the most exciting fighters on the UFC roster right now.
