Exclusive: Chris Curtis regrets Jack Hermansson loss - here's why

Chris Curtis stepped in as a last-minute replacement to face Jack Hermansson at UFC London when Darren Till pulled out of the originally scheduled fight. While he regrets not winning a bout that could've been significant in terms of climbing up the middleweight ladder, Curtis alluded to several factors that led to the unfortunate loss.

Curtis lost to Hermansson by a unanimous decision at UFC London. Two judges scored the fight 29-28 in favor of 'The Joker' and a third scored it 30-27, all thanks to his superior movement and striking. This also allowed him to frustrate and evade the power puncher in each round.

Speaking about the regret of failing to take advantage of an opportunity that could've potentially seen him break into the top 10 of the middleweight division, Chris Curtis said in an exclusive interview with Andrew Whitelaw of Sportskeeda MMA:

"It sucks man. I definitely wanted that No.8 spot. But I came in and what? Three of my last four UFC fights have been on short notice. I took a risk and so far it's worked great for me."

He further added:

"There was a lot going into that fight [against Hermansson]. We didn't have time to put stuff together like my coaching and stuff. Yeah you want to be No.8 and I hate that I'm not but at the same time, I don't really put too much into it. I took a risk on short notice, came up short, it happens."

The fight against Jack Hermansson wasn't the only time that Curtis agreed to step in on short notice in his four-fight-long UFC career. Back in December 2021, 'The Action Man' faced Brendan Allen, replacing Roman Dolidze, who pulled out due to complications in his recovery from COVID-19. Curtis won the fight via technical knockout in the second round.
