"Executives from Netflix would all be going to jail" - Jake Paul's manager addresses fan claims of 'rigged' Mike Tyson fight
The claims that Jake Paul's boxing match against Mike Tyson was fixed were recently dismissed by Paul's manager. In support of his argument, the individual emphasized that if Tyson had won against Paul, no one would have raised their eyebrows.
The highly anticipated heavyweight boxing contest between Paul and Tyson took place on Nov. 15 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington. Their bout lasted eight rounds and in the end, the YouTuber turned boxer got his hand raised via unanimous decision.
Many combat sports fans were disappointed with the outcome since they expected an exciting fight after witnessing Tyson and Paul's training clips. Moreover, the bout was regarded as boring as both boxers failed to inflict significant damage on each other.
This made many people question whether the fight was fixed from the start. In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, Paul's manager and co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions, Nakisa Bidarian, addressed those allegations, saying:
''I don’t care what people have to say. They’re always going to have something to say. It is what it is...The only win there was if Mike Tyson knocked out Jake Paul, otherwise, the haters would have found a way to complain no matter what.''
Bidarian added:
''It was sanctioned by the athletic commission. Our partner was Netflix, who is the biggest media company in America and is a public entity. There was professional sports betting on the event. So, if you were to rig such competition, it is a federal crime. And myself, Jake Paul, Mike Tyson, executives from Netflix would all be going to jail, they would be risking their entire company, and we would be risking our entire lives to do that..."This was 100% real from beginning to end.'' Notably, more than 108 million people watched the fight live on Netflix, however many complained about the poor sound and video quality.
Jake Paul hits back at Sylvester Stallone's 'rigged' fight remarks
Sylvester Stallone was among those who believed that the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson boxing contest was staged. Stallone believed Tyson was purposefully holding himself back against Paul. In an Instagram post, he wrote:
''I have known this unbelievable athlete since he’s 19 years old and what we saw was him giving one of the great Oscar winning performances of all time!!!! Please, Jake, be grateful, HE SPARED YOUR LIFE!''
That didn't sit well with Paul, who chastised Stallone for his statements in a recent episode of the IMPAULSIVE podcast. The 27-year-old mocked the Hollywood legend with remarks about plastic surgery, saying:
"If you think he wasn't trying, blame the Botox clouding your judgment...Tyson gave it his all, but he just couldn't land clean hits on me.'' [H/t: Marca]
