Fabricio Andrade open to fighting MMA legend Demetrious Johnson

After nearly two decades in the sport, Demetrious Johnson is still fighting at an elite level. That was made abundantly clear this past August when he delivered a Knockout of the Year contender against flyweight rival Adriano Moraes to capture his first ONE world championship.

Unfortunately, Father Time catches up with all of us, and Demetrious Johnson knows that his time inside the cage is nearing its end. As a result, every major fighter under the ONE Championship banner is chomping at the bit to get their moment inside the cage with one of the pound-for-pound greatest of all time. That includes No.1-ranked bantamweight contender Fabricio Andrade.

In an interview with ONE Championship, ‘Wonder Boy’ revealed that he would love to share the circle with Demetrious Johnson before he hangs up his gloves but is uncertain how they would work out the weight difference between the two:

“I would definitely consider fighting him. He's a legend of the sport, he has a huge history in MMA. So, having the possibility to fight him would be a very good thing for my career. But there is the issue of weight difference. I don't know if I could get down to his division, and I also don't know if he's interested in moving up, but if there was any possibility of this fight happening, I would really like it.”

Aside from a potential fight with Demetrious Johnson, Fabricio Andrade already has next two fights lined up

Prior to a potential meeting with Demetrious Johnson down the line, Fabricio Andrade’s next appearance inside the circle will come on February 10 when he meets former bantamweight world champion John ‘Hands of Stone’ Lineker to crown a new undisputed world champion. Should things go his way in their ONE on Prime Video 7 main event, ‘Wonder Boy’ already has his first world title defense picked out.

“I think he [Stephen Loman] deserves to fight for the belt. He's a guy I've been talking about for a long time. He was champion of another event before joining ONE. He's a guy who has a good record and comes from good wins at ONE. I don't think he's the toughest opponent in the division, I don't think he's shown anything I haven't seen before, but he's next in line. And I'll be very happy to knock him out too.”

Stephen Loman is currently undefeated under the ONE banner, with his biggest win coming at ONE on Prime Video 4 in November. ‘The Sniper’ scored a unanimous decision win over former world champion and bonafide ONE legend Bibiano Fernandes. Now the No.3-ranked contender, Loman is the clear challenger for the winner of Fabricio Andrade and John Lineker this February.
