Fans react to Demetrious Johnson vs Adriano Moraes III in ONE’s first event on U.S. soil
'Mighty Mouse' Demetrious Johnson and 'Mikinho' Adriano Moraes will be ending their world championship trilogy by headlining in ONE Championship's debut in the USA.
On May 5, ONE on Prime Video 10 will be hosted in Colorado, USA. The main event has been confirmed as the rubber match between all-time MMA great Demetrious defending his ONE flyweight throne against former world titleholder Moraes.
Moraes and Johnson have met twice previously, with each man taking one victory by way of a knee strike knockout. With the crown on the line and the world watching, 'Mighty Mouse' and 'Mikinho' will settle their series.
Fans reacted very positively to this announcement from ONE Championship.
Long-time Demetrious Johnson fan Conner Neill commented:
"Let’s gooo champ!! You have always been my favorite since you were the ufc flyweight champion and my inspiration for me being a small guy and wrestling and doing jitsu at 125 that us small guys can still dominate just like the big guys but also being an amazing person. Let’s gooo Mighty Mouse!!!"
With both fighters previously winning via knee knockout, ONE Championship fan CJ Evans added:
"Of course. Maybe we will get a double KO from flying knees."
Jiu-Jitsu player Jacob Shariq is incredibly grateful to have his trilogy booked, he said:
"Best trilogy ever. I'm so excited for the simultaneous double knee KO where we go to replay to see who gets the belt."
Demetrious Johnson won't be fighting forever
Demetrious Johnson is a famous video game player who in his spare time has become one of the greatest combat sports athletes in history. 'Mighty Mouse' set world title defense records in the UFC and captured both a Grand Prix and a division world title in ONE Championship; he has built an incredible legacy in MMA.
However, 'Mighty Mouse' is aware of his age and knows that his combat sports journey will soon be coming to an end. In an interview with Joe Rogan, Johnson discussed his timeline for retirement, he said:
“I can't’ fight forever. I’m 36 so I told myself four more fights, which would be two years. Two fights a year, right."
Two more years, and then 'Mighty Mouse' will be a family man. Johnson wants to spend time with his wife and children. He continued:
"But then as I get older I find things pulling me away from that like my children, my businesses, my wife, I wanna travel with her. There are so many things I wanna do.”
Demetrious Johnson may only have four fights left in him, but one of them will be against Adriano Moraes at ONE on Prime Video 10 on May 5. This event will be the first ONE Championship fight card on US soil.
