“Feels like a dream come true” - Diego Paez thrilled to secure hard-fought win over Johan Ghazali at ONE Fight Night 32
Colombian-American striker Diego Paez performed like there was no tomorrow at ONE Fight Night 32 last June 6. As you can expect from any warrior with his back against the wall, the 31-year-old striker fought with conviction, delivering each strike with evil intent against the favored Johan Ghazali.
The three-round slugfest was as good as advertised, with both fighters having their moments throughout the intense back-and-forth affair. In the end, however, Paez simply wanted it more and took home the well-earned split decision victory.
It was indeed a breakthrough win for Paez, who was on the wrong end of a split decision nod against Sean Climaco back in his ONE debut last February.
Speaking to Nick Atkin of the Bangkok Post post-fight, Diego Paez expressed how satisfied and relieved he was to return to the winner's circle.
Moreover, the Classic Fight Team standout admitted his victory tasted even sweeter since he beat a hyped prospect like 'Jojo.'
"So this time around, especially being Johan, as I said, he's been promoted so much, I didn't know how it was going to go. But it's nice to have honest judges and to be where I belong and to get my hand raised. It feels like a dream come true."
