Female UFC star gets into controversial back-and-forth with fans over Donald Trump advocacy
Former UFC women's bantamweight champion Miesha Tate got involved in a war of words with fans after she expressed her support for Donald Trump. Trump is known to have a close relationship with UFC CEO Dana White, as well as with many UFC fighters.
The former president is often seen at UFC events, showing his support for the organization, and in turn, many fighters have been vocal in their support for Trump. Recently, Justin Gaethje responded to a video tweet from musician DJ Envy, who posted a clip of his eight-year-old daughter wearing an outfit that some may deem inappropriate. Gaethje wrote:
"You are one sick piece of sh** @djenvy. This is the life they want for all of us. He loves Kamala Harris. If you vote with them then you are one dumb son of a b**** or one sick son of a b****. Either way, I will never be on your team. Putting your daughter in this position is some vile stuff #Trump2024Vance #Trump2024"

Gaethje's comments drew a response from a Twitter/X user, who called out those who supported Trump. At that point, Miesha Tate jumped in to respond, and replied to the user saying:
"You mean the toughest most physically capable people with the most heart & work ethic? The people you’d hope to have near you if sh** was going down? Good people with a sense of what it takes to fight for and save this Country?"
Thereafter, Tate posted a series of tweets and replies to show her support for Trump. In one tweet she mentioned the importance of voting and her support for the Republican party. Tate wrote:
“First of all I don’t speak for Justin, and secondly, metaphorically there are many ways to fight for America, one of them is voting. Nobody can compare to our soldiers but every single military member former or current that I know is a republican even if they were formerly democrats”
One fan shared a GIF where Trump appeared to be making comments about war heroes, adding a caption that implied Trump didn’t know how to respect the military. In defense of Trump, Tate replied, saying:
“He means he likes his people not to be captured, there’s no lies detected”
In another clash, a fan replied, accusing Trump of draft-dodging and being an alleged sex offender. In response, Tate claimed that 70% of Americans avoid the draft simply by being unhealthy. She said:
“People are dodging the draft by have a diet of Cola & Cheetos nowadays. Actually over 70% of American Military aged men can’t be drafted. Time to do something about it.”
