Fighter who almost beat Jon Jones pens cryptic post ahead UFC 309, claims he'd make "Birria" out of GOAT
Dominick Reyes recently took shots at Jon Jones ahead of the UFC 309 event this weekend. 'The Devastator' also poked fun at Jones' GOAT status and the UFC heavyweight champion's apparent reluctance to face Tom Aspinall.
Jones and Reyes notably fought each other in an all-time classic at UFC 247 in February 2020. While 'Bones' got his hand raised via unanimous decision after a brutal five-round war, many who watched the fight believed Reyes deserved the judges' nod. Reyes also believed he should've won and has expressed his dismay at losing several times in interviews and on social media.
Ahead of Jones' title defense against Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 at Madison Square Garden in New York this weekend, Reyes took shots at his old rival again. In a series of X posts, he wrote:
"You know what I do with [goats]? Birria!"
In a follow-up post, he referenced Jones allegedly ducking Aspinall and wrote:
"And I'll tell you right now, I get down with some roasted [duck] a l'orange."
When Dana White reacted to Jon Jones' controversial win over Dominick Reyes at UFC 247
Like many who watched the fight, Dana White also thought Dominick Reyes deserved the win over Jon Jones at UFC 247. The UFC CEO shared his opinion on the bout at the post-fight press conference and slammed the judges for their haywire scoring.
Speaking to the press, White opined that Jones should have lost and shared his personal score going into the final round of their clash. The UFC CEO claimed even his kids questioned him about possible match-fixing or cheating and said:
"The scoring was all over the map. Joe Solo, the former matchmaker here, had it a draw. Kevin Iole hit me up, he had Jones 3-2 going into the last round. I had Dominick Reyes 3-1 going into the last round. My kids are terrorizing me that the fix is in, and 'How can this happen, dad? Reyes won that fight,' and the list goes on and on of people that are reaching out to me."
