Floyd Mayweather reacts to Ryan Garcia testing positive for banned substance: "I was always a clean fighter"
Floyd Mayweather Jr. was hesitant to discuss the controversy surrounding Ryan Garcia's boxing match against Devin Haney.
On April 20, 'King Ryan' flipped the script on the boxing community by knocking down Haney several times and securing a majority decision win. Unfortunately, Garcia's legacy-defining performance has been overshadowed for several disappointing reasons.
Garcia showed no remorse for missing weight by three pounds, making him ineligible for Haney's WBC super lightweight world title. Following the boxing match, the 25-year-old failed a drug test for Ostarine, which was confirmed by a B-sample featuring the same result.
Mayweather, who's been publicly affiliated with Garcia over the last year, was asked during an appearance on It Is What It Is Talk if he told 'KingRy' to miss weight against Haney. 'Money' responded by saying:
"There's huge problems with the WBC, the New York commission. Certain things I can't speak on because I'll f*ck around and get a lawsuit, so I have to be very very careful with speaking about certain situations."
Mayweather was then asked about Garcia's failed drug test. The legendary boxer responded by saying:
"I just know I was always a clean fighter. I can't speak for nobody else. I can't really speak for nobody else, but one thing about me, I've always been a clean fighter,"

What's next for Ryan Garcia after secondary drug test confirmed Ostarine usage?
Ryan Garcia has continuously denied any wrongdoing concerning his boxing match against Devin Haney. Nonetheless, the 25-year-old superstar's two drug tests were positive for Ostarine and he will likely have to face severe consequences later this year.
According to Dan Rafael, Garcia is expected to have a hearing with the New York State Athletic Commission in the summer. 'KingRy' could potentially have his win against Haney overturned, with a suspension and fine added as a punishment.
Garcia has called out several high-profile opponents for his next boxing match. Although nothing has been confirmed, he seems most interested in facing Errol Spence Jr., who is coming off a loss against Terence Crawford in July 2023.
