Former bantamweight MMA champ John Lineker open to more Muay Thai bouts: “I want to go step by step”
Brazilian star John Lineker truly enjoyed his time in the Muay Thai ranks, and he wants more.
The former ONE bantamweight MMA world champion recently knocked out a tough striker in Alexey Balyko of Russia during his sophomore performance in "the arts of eight limbs," which brought his record to 2-0 in the striking world.
And, despite having said that he will continue to focus on MMA, Lineker said he would be open to have more fights in the striking arts without thinking of going for the belt just yet.
In the post-fight interview of ONE Fight Night 25, 'Hands of Stone' answered the question on whether he'll take on the newly-minted ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion Superlek Kiatmoo9.
He said:
"Well, thank you. I haven't thought about the belt yet. I want to go step by step, and I want to focus on MMA, but I'm really happy with the opportunity of fighting in Muay Thai."
And knowing that John Lineker would never say no to a perfect war, it would be interesting to see all the things that might unveil in the near future.
John Lineker is gunning for Rodtang Jitmuangnon in Muay Thai
As an accomplished veteran martial artist in ONE Championship, John Lineker has seen almost everything, and he wants to have a taste on one of the promotion's best strikers.
While Lineker still focuses on reclaiming the ONE bantamweight MMA world title, he would not mind to hang around a little bit longer in Muay Thai, especially if he can get his hands on the flyweight king Rodtang Jitmuangnon.
In fact, he called out 'The Iron Man' during his in-ring interview with ONE fighter-turned-commentator Mitch Chilson:
"Chatri, put me to a fight against Rodtang, we’re gonna make it happen!"
And with that, fans in the United States and Canada can relive all of the actions from ONE Fight Night 25 for free and on demand with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription.
