Former Bellator fighter praises Conor McGregor's "spectacular" performance against Eddie Alvarez
Conor McGregor was able to make history at UFC 205 as he defeated Eddie Alvarez via second-round TKO to capture the lightweight title. 'The Notorious', who was already the featherweight champion entering the bout, became the first fighter in UFC history to hold titles in two weight classes simultaneously.
Gaston Reyno, who competed in Bellator from 2015 to 2017, took to X on Saturday to praise the title-winning performance. 'Tonga' shared slowed-down footage of the bout, captioning the post in Spanish:
"That Conor McGregor was SPECTACULAR"

The performance catapulted McGregor to a level of stardom that mixed martial arts had not seen before and has not seen since. He went on to face Floyd Mayweather in a crossover boxing match in 2017. His return to the octagon came more than two years after he became double champ when he faced Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229.
Since defeating Alvarez in November 2016, he has fought just four times, winning just one of those bouts. The UFC 205 main event remains his last win over an opponent in the UFC rankings. 'The Notorious' has found tremendous success in the business world since capturing his second title.
Chael Sonnen provides an update on Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler bout
Conor McGregor appeared set to make his highly-anticipated return to the octagon at UFC 303 in June before he was forced to withdraw with a toe injury. Chael Sonnen recently provided an update on when 'The Notorious' could face Michael Chandler. Speaking on his podcast, Beyond the Fight, 'The American Gangster' stated:
"Well, I think Conor is sincere that he would like to fight [at] 170 pounds [at the] T-Mobile Arena [in] December 2024 opposite Michael Chandler under the unified rules of the mixed martial arts. I believe him. I don't think that's a ploy for attention. I believe an inside scoop that I'm getting that the UFC wants all of those same things - they just want it in January in California."

McGregor has been in talks to face Chandler since it was announced that they would coach opposing sides on season 31 of 'The Ultimate Fighter' in February 2023. While the UFC and their biggest star appear to be at odds over the date, things may be moving towards a resolution.
