Former two-division champ Aung La N Sang recalls overcoming rough start against Fan Rong: "He was different in that fight"

After battling through some tough moments in his career, Aung La N Sang has been able to come out to see the light at the end of the tunnel. The former two weight world champion needed to rebuild after losing both of his titles in a pair of iconic fights with Reinier de Ridder.

Though he struggled to find his feet at first, 'The Burmese Python' is now riding a three-fight win streak where he has stopped each opponent.

His last fight, which took place well over a year ago, saw him take on China's Fan Rong at ONE's US debut at ONE Fight Night 10.

He was able to get the second round submission win on the night in Broomfield, but it did call for some adjustments from the former champ.

In a recent interview with Cageside Press ahead of his return at ONE 168, he spoke about the things that surprised him in this fight after his opponent switched up his approach:

"But, yeah, he had good counters and had good footwork during that fight. I don't know what he did but yeah, he was different in that fight. It was another aspect of Fan Rong I didn't expect."

Aung La N Sang looks to carry this momentum into ONE 168

Being able to make the right adjustments to overcome adversity is one of the greatest strengths that Aung La N Sang possesses as a veteran of the sport.

This could prove to be crucial against the undefeated rising contender, Shamil Erdogan.

Both men last recorded wins when taking on Fan Rong and having this common opponent set the stage for their eventual meeting on September 6 at the Ball Arena.

Erdogan was also able to get his man out of there in the second round but he will have a much more difficult task when trying to put away Aung La.

Tickets for ONE 168: Denver are available via Ticketmaster.
