Former UFC champ feels Shi Ming needs to "come clean" about her profession: "Time to tell your parents that you’re a savage"
Chinese fighter Shi Ming has gained considerable attention after defeating Feng Xiaocan at UFC Macau. During the event, it was revealed that Ming is a registered doctor and that her parents have no clue that she is also a UFC fighter.
Former two-division champion Henry Cejudo responded by first praising the 'Doctor' for her incredible come-from-behind performance in the octagon. He then advised Ming to inform her parents that, in addition to saving lives as a doctor, she is also a killer in the cage.
Henry Cejudo posted on X demonstrating how Ming knocked her opponent down at UFC Macau, writing:
"Shi Ming: KO of the Month! The Chinese Strawweight used her feints effectively in order to set up a ferocious head kick securing the knockout victory. It might be time to tell your parents that you’re a savage!.."
In a video attached below with the abovementioned post, 'Triple C' also gave fight fans a breakdown of how 'The Doctor' KO'd her opponent at UFC Macau, saying:
“Breaking down the undercover doctor. I’m talking all the way from China, I’m talking about Shi Ming. Guys this girl might be doing some surgery at the hospital, but guess what? In the octagon, she is putting people in stretchers.
"I love the fact that she was able to do it. How is it that she set it up? Because it was these nice little fakes she did, one-two. This girl did not respect it. By the time she ended up going for that final kick, she was able to do it, just bring that leg up and knock her opponent out and take her out on a stretcher. What’s next for Shi Ming? I’ll tell you guys, she needs to come clean because her parents doesn’t even know that she fights in the UFC. But either way, this girl has it going."
Meanwhile, Cejudo has lost his last two bouts against Merab Dvalishvili and Aljamain Sterling. No news about his comeback fight has been made official by the UFC as of this writing.
Shi Ming received an extra $50,000 at UFC Macau
At UFC Macau, the 'Doctor' got one of the year's best knockouts and also won a performance of the night bonus as a result, for which she bagged an extra $50,000.
Ming said after the fight that while she was pleased with the recent victory, she was also concerned about her opponent. In her post-fight octagon interview with Michael Bisping, the 'Doctor' said:
"I feel really happy...but I actually worry about my opponent. I really hope she is okay, she’s young and – sorry… That’s what happened in the semi-finals, I had a lot of opportunities to knock out my opponent, but I think I have too much mercy.” [h/t Bloody Elbow]
