Former UFC fighter Kenny Florian highlights irony in Joe Biden's 2024 campaign exit amid continuing Presidential tenure
Former UFC fighter Kenny Florian has called out US President Joe Biden for the irony behind his latest decision, which will see him step out of the Democratic race but continue his duties as the President.
Yesterday, news broke that Biden was officially pulling out of the race for a second term in office, wanting to instead fulfill his final 5 months as the President. He also put forward and endorsed Kamala Harris, the vice-president, to take his place and run for the Democratic party.
Whilst Biden didn't get specific as to his reasons why he was pulling out, some people, like Florian, believe it is due to the 81-year-old's deteriorating health.
The former fighter then took to social media to share his thoughts on the situation, where he stated he feels Biden's decision has come with a sense of irony. According to Florian, it makes no sense that he isn't fit enough for the campaign but is well enough to finish his term as the US President. He tweeted:
"So, Biden is perfectly fine to perform his duties for the remaining 5 months but not in January. Got it! 🤡🌍"

The now-former opponent of Biden, Donald Trump is currently the odds-on favorite for the Presidential race. Trump is also supported and endorsed by a multitude of figures inside the UFC, such as Dana White, Conor McGregor, and Colby Covington.
Jon Anik and Kenny Florian talk UFC 300 loss with Justin Gaethje
During a recent appearance on Jon Anik and Kenny Florian's podcast, Justin Gaethje shed some light on his UFC 300 knockout loss at the hands of Max Holloway.
Whilst chatting, Florian gave his props to Gaethje and praised him for being respectful whether he wins or loses inside the octagon. The former fighter then delved a little deeper and asked 'The Highlight' what he would have changed about the fight or done differently. Kenny Florian said:
"What do you think you would have changed on fight night?"
Gaethje then responded by stating he didn't want to make any excuses, and that Holloway was a far tougher puzzle to solve in the octagon than first thought. He said:
"My gameplan was necessarily the correct gameplan but that's only something you could know after the fact and I think [Holloway] fought an amazing fight. He was very precise and perfect that night. You know, a very tough Max Holloway to beat...I would've pressured more, I would've tried to move forward...When he did come, it was few and far between and so unpredictable and fast."
